What Kind of iPad Leather Case Should I Choose

The iPad leather case that you choose for your portable computer can be made at home or can be elaborately made by a craftsman.  There are several online stores that sell these cases and they are not too expensive. The leather used is a heavier duty that than of boots and is designed to last up to 100 years. This will certainly outlast your portable device! When you order from one of the makers on the internet you will have a choice of several colors and styles.

One of the styles that is preferred by a lot of professional people is the portfolio style. This is more like a bag or briefcase and has a pocket on the inside for stowing your computer. There are pockets for business cards, a pad of paper, a zipper compartment for some of the smaller accessories, and loops for pens and pencils. Another popular style is the document bag that is designed much the same as the portfolio but is slimmer and will not have all the specialized compartments. You keep your computer on the inside but the zipper compartment on the back is designed to carry a few pieces of paper.

A lightweight alternative to the bag style carriers is the one that resembles a giant envelope. There is a flap that opens to allow you to remove and insert your computer. The flap tucks into a slot on the front of the case and secures the computer for travel. If all these are more money than you want to spend or more elaborate than you need, you can design your own leather case.

The pattern online will help you to create a book-style binder that will securely hold your computer. You will need the leather, binding board, a utility knife, PVA glue, a strip of elastic, Velcro, and binding paper. After tracing the appropriate design on the binding board use the utility knife to cut out along the tracing lines. Place the leather on a flat surface and smooth out. Put the binding board pieces on the leather and trim with at least 2cm excess. Space the pieces one millimeter apart to allow the ‘book’ to fold. Glue the binding board to the leather, folding over the edges, and sealing on the inside cover with the paper liner. The glue will need to set up and dry overnight. After drying you will be able to use the utility knife to cut small holes in the back for attaching the elastic to keep the book securely shut.

Whichever cover you choose you will need to clean it regularly and the iPad leather case should outlast the life of your computer.
